Caramelized Cherry Banana Glaze with Basil
Cherry syrup, lemon-lime soda and banana juice reduced to a glossy caramel and scented with fresh basil, a sweet and herbal glaze to spoon warm.

Follow the steps below to cook the desired recipe
1. Pick the basil leaves from the stems and tear half of the leaves into small pieces; keep the rest whole for serving.
2. Heat the oil in a wide, deep skillet over medium heat. Add the torn basil and stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.
3. Pour in the cherry syrup, soda and banana juice and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
4. Reduce to a lively simmer and cook for 15–20 minutes, stirring often, until the liquid has reduced by about two thirds and turns a deep amber, syrupy caramel that coats the back of a spoon.
5. Take the pan off the heat and season with a pinch of pepper; the glaze thickens more as it cools.
6. Let it cool for 5 minutes, spoon it warm into four small bowls and top with the whole basil leaves.
